little house...

There is this cute little house on my street that is always very well decorated when comes a holiday, any holiday. This year, they added a dog to the ornaments. He fits just right in! Since I took this photo, we had rain and all the beautiful snow has melted. I wish that 2009 starts white...

I have a new idol: Lauren Nassef. I found her website via Doodlers Anonymous. What I like about her, besides her solid technique and her great imagination, is that she can draw in different styles, yet her work is very personal and unique. Make sure that you take a look at her blog A Drawing a Day. It encourages me to do so.

Ok, off to doodle...

full...

I'm so full from my Christmas meal! My brother in law cooked a scrumptious traditional meal with a revisited twist. Those cute little meat pies were to die for. I stole one from the freezer!

To help you forget all of you excesses, you can visit the beautiful artists of Sears-Peyton Gallery. My favorites are Roz Leibowitz, Kaorou Mansour and Sarah Hinckley (I want her studio!)

From a walk in the old port.

The other night I had a Christmas party with some friends. One of them is also one of my favorite Montreal artist. You can see a small sample of her wonderful work here.

solstice...

So today is the shortest day of the year. Montreal is celebrating with a snow storm.

Beautiful walk. I wore my new Sorel boots. They can go down to 40C below! But they're so heavy and stiff, I can barely walk with them. I guess it's a good thing that they are so warm.

Karine Giboulo...

I went to see the incredible work of Karine Giboulo at Galerie SAS. She depicts the life of Chinese factory workers in a very personal, poetic and lucid way. Make sure you read her artistic statement.

Photo by Cedric Sam. You can see more photos he took from one of Karine's show here.

visual pollution...

Photobucket

I find this little poster can be read on so many different levels. Only the silhouette and the word Resist was on the original paper. The rest was added by different people. I guess you can call it collective street art.

I'm on my way to le Salon des métiers d'art (craft show). Have a great Sunday!

knitting...

I'm not a very good knitter. I only know one knot. But there's this beautiful little wool shop near my place called Effiloché. They have the most irresistible soft and colorful yarns. So I knitted a few mufflers and to vary, learned how to crochet wrist warmers. I took crochet lessons on... Youtube! (not very exciting but well explained)

Effiloché est une boutique de laine et tissus de la Plaza St-Hubert. À visiter pour les amoureux de crochet et tricot.

oxalis...

I've had this oxalis for years now. I don't really take care of it. Yet, sometimes it decides to reward me anyway and grow some flowers. Flowers are always welcome, even when they're so small. Especially on a dark and snowy day like today!

I recently joined the Team EtsyQ which goal is to promote the work of crafters and artists living and working in the province of Quebec. You can visit EtsyQ's blog here.

andy...

I went to see the exhibition Warhol Live at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and brought back a few postcards. I was struck again by how his art is still highly influencing the graphic design of today. I love black, yellow and white together!

On the top photo, there is also a drawing done by Marie-Pierre Normand (sorry, no links) for the concept album Herry Kopter (the customer is our god).

The sun is out for the first time in days. But it's so cold that my window is frozen.
