more food...

When camping, my favorite meal is breakfast. I love to toast my bread on a campfire. I guess kids, and even some adults, prefer s'mores. In this case burned pretzel s'mores! Oh dear! ... and ice cream. We all enjoyed the shortcake.

I won't "reinvent" this week although I said I would. I feel lazy and I have a way overdue deadline... But you can find more week words on Valentina's blog.

Happy weekend everyone!

bull run...

We were camping a Bull Run Park and one afternoon we went for a dip in Bull Run. The kids were catching crayfish and fish, the guys were skipping stones, even 10 at a time!, and Cooper the dog was chasing a very big stick.

On a complete different note, I saw this link on Camilla's blog. These ladies and gentlemen put a smile on my face. Their looks can brighten the most rainy day. They reminded me of my grandmother (my father's mother.) She was always very stylish and a bit excentric. So was my mom who was always so elegant and it made me wonder how my own style became so drab. Mimi Weddel is one snazzy woman! Hats off to her! More great street wear here.

more gus n gus...

Oh and here's the second post of the day with an outside view of Gus N Gus. I don't do much of black & white photos, but I thought this one called for it...

boardwalk food...

It's been a while since I've been to a beach that has a boardwalk. I forgot how crowded and colorful it could be. I was a bit surprised at all the food people can eat. And we had our share of food too. We went for a burger at Gus N Gus which has been on the boardwalk of Rehoboth beach for more than 50 years! MMMM! That was a good burger!

Nothern Virginia...

... and a bit of Delaware.

Last week we went to Northern Virginia and spent a day at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware (more to come about the beach) where the three first photos were taken. It was such a lovely village with gorgeous white beach houses. One was standing out though with it's shocking pink color!

The last two photos were taken in Old Alexandria in Northern Virginia, another gorgeous neighborhood on the Potomac river, just across from Washington D.C. The kind of place you can only dream living in for it is sooooo expansive!

I am stunned by the gorgeous sculptures made out of toilet paper rolls by Junior Jacquet - found through one of my new favorite blog Accidental Mysteries.

time...

The week word was time. This is what time does when it has time.
You can find links for more week words on Anairam's blog.

Still going through my photos from my trip. Will post soon...

back...

I'm back from my little trip down in Virginia but I didn't have time to go through my photos yet. Stay tuned...

Sandra put up a new Flickr group called Morning routine.

off...

I'm taking a few days off. Will be traveling to Northern Virginia and be camping there. Have a wonderful weekend! See you next week!

July 13, 2009

bread and jam...

I made the famous no knead bread (or here) and decided to add walnuts to it. Mmmm! Delicious! Especially with the strawberry jam I made the other day!

Wishing you a happy week!

laziness...

So the week word was laziness. Well I got really lazy. Didn't even try to think of another way of illustrating the word. I think resting feet are the quintessence of the word laziness. Resting feet or sleeping cat...

Other week words can be found @ Kristi, Anairam, Esti, Aris, Lea, FruensWerk, aimee, Thereza and L'atelier. Kristi, since you challenged me for this week word, I challenge you for next week :)

fauna...

I spent some time in different parks lately and saw all different kind of little animals. I saw a bunch of groundhogs too but none of my photos were any good.

Did you notice the tiny branch in the goldfinch claw? And that rabbit was one happy bunny! His human friend brought him to the park to spent the afternoon. He was grazing in a thick bush while she was playing scrabble with another human friend. Well supposedly that he was a bit angry when I took the photo. He didn't want to go home...

I immediately fell in love with Conor Froy's landcapes! They are so simple yet so powerful. - via Dear Ada.

Bread is rising at the moment. Can't wait to have a slice with jam...

Raindrop melody maker... so cute!

farniente...

Still going through my photos... slowly but surely.

I was inquiring about the week word recently. Well Kristi invited me to choose one for this week. Since it's summer, that I'm not doing much lately and that lots of people are on vacation, I choose the word LAZINESS, farniente, paresse... as in cat laziness.

As usual, the week word should be posted next Friday, plus a day or two for the most lazy of us. If you want to participate, please leave a comment here. And please spread the week word for there was a hiatus in playing last week.

pink...

I took a lot of photos lately but I haven't found the time to go through them. Soon...

On the other hand, Grass Doe took the time to go through his/her photos - found via Brian Ferry's blog. I found Brian's blog via Sandra's blog who found it via This Joy + Ride. Ah! the joy of net surfing!

Wishing you a beautiful week! Don't only surf, go play outside! :)

WEEK WORD: Can anyone tell me if a week word was chosen and if so, by whom and what is it?

another one...

There was another garage sale in my neighborhood. They had great items, very well displayed, but it was a bit expensive. So I did not buy anything. I took a few photos though.

Speaking of vintage stuff, Fiona of Cafe Cartolina found two great flicker sets lately: forgotten places and diary of the book lover.
