on blogging...

If this is not too indiscreet, I have a little question for you: why do you blog? I'm just curious to know what motivates you, what you like about it...

I started to blog on Myspace. I joined a few years ago and found some great artists there and met very interesting people, to say the least. Much like here, my blog was mostly about my wanderings.

Then I open an online store and thought I should broaden my audience and started this blog. Ha! It didn't bring one more client. I mostly sell my stuff to close friends. My store is actually more of a place for them to take a look at what I do. Actually, I've been working so much the last months that I wasn't able to paint or draw much. Some of you guys can juggle work, family and art but I can't (and I don't even have children!) Hats of to you!

Where was I? Okay, so I continue blogging cause I think I'm kind of addicted to it now. I met great people and find such great inspiration in blogland. Sometimes I get tired of it, or I don't have much to say or to show, so I take a little break, then come back.

So I am wondering, why do you blog?

And if you are interested, my last Myspace blog was about my thoughts on online networking. I haven't change my mind on this subject...

Have a fun day!

apples...

After our walk, we went to pick some apples. I made apple butter and a great crumble with them. I still have a bunch. Maybe another crumble is in order...

walk...

We went for a walk at Mont Saint-Bruno Park, just a few minutes out of Montreal. It was such a beautiful day! I think I went a bit overboard with the water lilies photos...

More photos from around the house and around the neighborhood with a stop at Petit Alep, my favorite nearby café. Came accross the smiling Cheshire cat.

Random shots from around the house...

I was tumbling through the gorgeous Oh sweet woods and was stunned to see one of my photos there. Made me smile. I also like Parergon's (Camilla) pop life plus, another cool tumblr.

Have a happy Saturday!

carpe diem...

This is my very down to earth interpretation of the week word CARPE DIEM - seize the day - cueille le jour présent. I think this period of fall has to be seized. Just like those spring days when everything is in bloom give place to summer so quickly. Every day, every moment has to be seized, but some have to be seized more intensely.

Thank you Line for picking this week word, for reminding me to cueillir le jour présent.

And thank you everyone for your visits and kind comments. I wish you all a wonderful weekend! Cape diem!

While waiting for the bus one night, I saw this lonely man sitting in a homeless mission, watching tv...

These photos were taken in the gardens of Chateau Ramsay in Old Montreal. Can you believe I've been living here all my life and visited this place before!

dinner...

Some time ago I had a wrap party with the visual team of a museum project I worked on. It was more of a very nice dinner than a party. The exhibition designer invited us to her lovely house by Saint-Laurent river. It was nice t see the team in a nonworking context.

Speaking of work, yesterday I finish another big project and I'm bursting with joy. As a freelancer, you have to be versatile. This project was pretty different from what I actually do and brought me back to what I used to do in a former life. All summer, for the second summer in a row, I did research for a kids tv program about urban animals. I'm always excited when I start a new project and this one was no different. The research subjects were fascinating. But when a project comes to an end, and particularly this one, I usually can't wait do be done with it. Especially when it ends a whole month later than scheduled!

I'm now back to my usual freelance graphic design projects with my regular clients. Plus, I've been offered a part time job as production manager for one of them, the one who hired me on the museum project mentioned up here. I think this is going to be a fun challenge. I'm looking forward to it.

manassas...

This is the Manassas National Battlefield Park where two Civil War battles took place. I like the simplicity of prairies. So this was my last post from Virginia. Back to our regular program some time this week.

washington...

We've not only been "just outside of Washington D.C.", we've been in it too. Just a short trip. It is such a beautiful city! Have to go back! Tomorrow will be my last post from Virginia. Then I'll leave you alone with VA for a few weeks, until I go back :)

Now, I completely forgot to ask one of you to choose the next week word. But I am now. I choose a fellow Québécoise whom I've just met through our blogs. Line, would you choose the next week word s'il-te-plait?

great falls...

While in Virginia, we visited Great Falls Park. I fell in love with the place. Again, situated just a few minutes from Washington D.C., this park brings you in another world full of water, rocks, crazy kayakers, shells, insects, vultures, trees and fantastic textures.

Please go visit aime's interpretation of FRAGMENT. She decided to participate at the last minute. Well it is worth the detour!
