cooper...

I didn't take much photos while in Virginia. We are always pretty busy when we're there. But I got to see my best dog friend Cooper. He looks completely crazy on these photos but he's the best. He's pretty old and arthritic but when he goes to the river, he forgets his pains and runs after the biggest stick you can throw at him. Poor Cooper. At night, you can see in his face a look that says something like "man! what did I do again today? I hurt everywhere. I'm not a spring chicken anymore!"

On a different note, my life has taken a huge turn. I'm no longer a freelancer. I was offered to be production manager for the graphic design department of a company that specialize in museum exhibitions. I've worked with them before as a freelancer and as a production manager for a subcontractor so I pretty much know what is awaiting me. I think it's going to be a very interesting experience. But I will probably have less time for blogging, well at the first anyway.

So I'm off to work this morning.

I leave you with this wonderful project from Sophie Munns. I decided to join!

back...

I'm back and so happy to be home after a 15 hours train ride! I was camping down in Virginia for the week. It was very hot and humid, the mosquitoes were fierce and I have four wolf spider bites on my thighs! The spider must have been hiding in my sleeping bag. According to what I read on the Internet, I should survive but I have to keep an eye on the bites and make sure they stay clean. Despite all of this, I had a very good time but now I'm glad I'm back. I have a lot of catching up to do blog wise!

But for now I'm off to the market. Can't wait to see the new crops!

Wishing you a great day! Will visit soon!

off...

I'm taking some time off. Will be back in a week or so. Thank you for your nice comments on my last post. Sorry I can't comment on the other week word posts but I have to go! Will visit soon!

Have fun!

dream...

This week word is so appropriate. I feel like I'm in a dream. Last night, I learned that I was nominated by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television for the Québécois prizes named Gémaux for best research for a Kids TV program . It's quite an important award here. The equivalent of the Emmys in the States, but much smaller of course.

Last summer and the summer before I worked on researches for a TV program called Zooville. It was about animals in the city. This nomination goes to the research team for one particular episode which was about ants. I read my research again last night and I must say, it wasn't too bad. I'm very happy, to say the least. Actually, I'm more flabbergasted than anything else. Not bad for a graphic designer ;)

Sitting on my back balcony, this is what I see sometimes. He was chanting and chanting, then flew away...

ship...

This boat has been in the port since last winter.

Lazy Saturday ahead. It seems that the fast drivers won't be able to ride their engines so fast after all, most big streets of Montreal are close due to different celebrations. The only way to get around is by using the subway. Very quiet out there this morning :)

Last night I watched this wonderful documentary about origami on PBS. Magical!

transparent...

When I started to play with photoshop, I was fascinated by the endless possibilities of making layers transparent. It still fascinates me.

Wishing you a happy weekend. Here, we will have to cope with the Grand Prix frenzy and fast driving fools.

singing...

Like this blackbird, I'm singing! My computer is back home! It was the video card AND the hard drive. Now the only thing left to do is to reinstall everything. Lots of fun ahead!

Note: I never thought this bird got so ruffled up when singing. I find it cute.

I guess by now everyone saw this, but I fond it very intriguing and beautiful.

bar...

Last week I went downtown to take a photo of a building for an article I'm doing the layout of. The building was in a very bleak part of town with very welcoming bars like this one. Hmm! I choose to go back home and have a tall glass of water instead.

Very rainy day here. Good weather for working on all the projects I neglected because of last minute rush from a client.

I discovered the very interesting Plateform Magazine via Camilla. Her work is featured in the last issue.

balcony 2...

This is the end of this post. And no it's not a very tall Martini or Baccardi, it's just water and lime juice.

lucky garbage...

I've been going through garbage and garage sales and got really lucky. I got all these books for free!

First photo: my neighbor was having a yard sale and she gave me these 3 books for being such an awesome cat sitter :)

Second photo: I was walking to visit my sister and I stumbled upon 3 open boxes filled with great books. The boxes were there on the sidewalk, all by themselves, next to a sign announcing another yard sale. It was late in the afternoon so I thought the sale was over. I looked around, there were some people outside but they didn't seem concerned by the books. So I started to go through the boxes. I had already read lots of the books in there but not the ones I picked. I am big polar (detective novel) fan but never read Harlan Coben nor Micheal Marshall. All the time I was picking the books and until I was done, I would take a look around to see if someone would come with a baseball bat saying to put the books back, but nothing. So I kept them. Do you think they will be missed?

Rest of the photos: I was downtown and passed by this art gallery. They were doing their spring cleaning. They put in the garbage big boxes filled with art books, magazines and artists catalogs. Some people were already going through them. I joined the group and made some great finds like this old catalog of Diane Létourneau's paintings (fifth photo - sorry, didn't find a link). Back then, they used to glue real photos in books to make sure the art work colors were the same as the original. Those must have been expansive to produce!

But my greatest finds of all was this little Marion Wagschal catalog. I fell in love with her work. It reminds me of Lucian Freud's work but more delicate. It's beautiful!

Speaking of lucky, I finally heard about my computer. It's salvageable! And it won't cost too much to repair it. Yay!

Now I have to find out why I can't post comment on certain blogger blogs...
UPDATE: I found what was wrong. I had to accept third parties cookies with Firefox. Tomorrow is make up time for all the blogs I admired silently for the past week.

Happy weekend all!

balcony...

We're having a very early summer. Two weeks ago, I potted herbs for the back balcony. There is even some for Sadou. And one night after dinner, I sat there and went a bit crazy shooting everything I laid my eyes on. So much so that I will have to do a second post!

This might be the happiest blog I've seen in a very long time! It combines two of my favorite things in life.

trees...

I started this little painting some time ago. I finally finished it last week. I listed it in my shop.

I discovered outrepart via Camilla, very interesting collection of images.

at the park...

These were taken on two different walks at the park close to my place. It's a huge park with little areas dedicated to different activities. Among those are the ball games where you can find some fierce bocce players. They don't allow pétanque players on their turf. On the sign there you can read This is a bocce terrain, not petanque, please. Fortunately, there is also a pétanque field so everybody is happy. Don't ask me what's the difference between pétanque and bocce, I just know that the first one is French and the other is Italian.

There's also a pond where you can refresh yourself to the nice breeze and droplets coming from the fountain. I laughed out loud when I saw this little dog lounging on his chair.

I still don't know what's wrong with my computer. Can't wait for the doctor to call. Thank you for your kind words. And don't forget to back up!

Speaking of technological problems, I can't post comments on some of my blogger friends. It seems that it happens when the comments have to be written on the blog post itself. It doesn't happen when the comments are written in a pop up window or in a window where the blog post is not visible. So i wasn't able to comment on Line's visit to Montreal, how much I like the new drawings by Aris or the beautiful present Valerie received from her daughter... and many more. I hope this problem will get solved soon. I'm getting very frustrated with technology!

Ah well...

Some beautiful work from the very prolific Andrea Dezsö
