When we went to Ile Saint-Hélène, we took the ferry to come back downtown. I really like this little ferry. It brings people on foot or with their bikes from Ile Sainte-Hélène to the South shore of Montreal back to Montreal. We were lucky to catch it because it was the last day it was sailing until next year.

Another week begins. I can't believe how fast it goes. Soon it will be Christmas. I should start thinking about cooking my fruit cake and other goodies. What is your favorite Holidays treats?

Yesterday morning. Winter. This morning we woke up to a short centimetre of snow. It's here for good.

Have a good weekend and stay warm!

More fall colors! About a month ago we went for a walk at Oka Park, not too far from Montreal. It was a beautiful day with a clouds and sun fest. Do you see the ducks on the first photo?

As I write this, an important ice storm is hitting Montreal. The sidewalks and streets are covered now with ice. I regret not buying boot spikes last time I saw some at the store...

So here are the results I got from my box camera. It takes 120 films which render 8 shots in total. I was happy to see that all of them were good enough to be developed. I left the black frame left from the camera store developer. Because the view finder is on top of the camera, all the photos are vertical. Next time I will try to make horizontal ones.

This camera has no lens, thus it is impossible to adjust the focal point. As you can see, the best photos are the ones I took from a good distance, with a good light. Number 4 was taken by T. Because light was low for shots 7 and 8, I clicked twice before rolling the film. For shot 7, the camera was on the ground and for shot 8, it was hand held, this is why it has two different photos on top of each other.

It was funny taking a little box out to take photos. But I must say that this is a pretty costly hobby. With film and processing, each photo cost about 3$ to make. So it will take a while before I take my box out again.

Oh and T was a bit disappointed to read that I found the box camera at a garage sale, HE spotted it first! Facts are now clarified. :)

p.s. Line, la valise était là et j'ai rien touché. Mes photos sont que très rarement mises en scène...
Anairam, I didn't peak in the suitcase, I was afraid of how it would smell inside...

I found this beautiful object at a garage sale. The No.2 Cartridge Hawk-Eye Camera (model C) from Eastman Kodak Co. was made in the late 20s , early 30s. It was a point and shoot camera without any possibility of adjusting the focal point.

It was broken when I got it but T was able to fix it and clean it. I'll show you soon the results I got with it...

A little walk in my neighborhood on a warm sunny day. Not like today. We just had hail, snow, gusty winds and thunder! Although, the sun seems to want to make a break through now. We'll see. It's been getting a lot colder this last week. It's nice to be home with a hot coffee and a warm cat on my lap. Since I started working full time, he follows me everywhere in the house as soon as I get in. Poor Sadou, he's getting so old...

I don't have much plan for this weekend. It's hard to go out the first days of winter, I just want to cuddle under a blanket. My craving for walks and photo will come back soon though. I can't stay in the house all winter.

What are you plans for the weekend?

Are you tired of all those photos of fall colors? Well I'm afraid I still have more to come. I hope you don't mind. These were taken on our trip back from Virginia.

So happy it's Friday! Wishing you a good one!

While in Virginia, we sometimes camp, sometimes stay in a cute log cabin. Last time we were camping. I don't take much photos when I'm down there because most of the time, we are on the go. But I manage to shoot some anyway and could not resist taking a few pictures of these huge and juicy oil beetles. There were around 20 of them on the grass. Weird. And at the same moment, on a very tall dead tree, there were about 8 vultures. I took photos too but they were not good. Ah well...

It's mid week already. I worked late again last night so I will get to bed pretty early tonight. As I writ this, I feel the cold wind blowing through the window. It smells like snow...

Do you know Graphic Exchange? I can't believe I didn't before today.

Three weeks ago, we went to Virginia. The trip down was a succession of weather changes. I think I saw the brightest rainbow ever. I took the photo from the car so it doesn't give it proper credit. People were stooping on the rad to take pictures.

Fall is probably the best time of year for traveling. New York State with its Catskills and Adirondacks was so beautiful! More to come...

I like Tamar Mogendorff work.
