... or when Montreal is happening! This installation is in the heart of Montreal and has been thought and produced by my friends and former clients Lucion Média. I'm very proud of having been once working with these crazy creators.

Sphères polaires is so spectacular in person! The lights give place to shadow play and the musical ambiance makes everything even more magical. If you're in Montreal, don't miss it.

I made it last year, and the year before, and the one before... A Christmas without my mom's fruit cake is not a real Christmas...

It feels so good to find some time to rest, cook, read, watch movies late at night or just do nothing.

This is so beautifully filmed.

4 days...

beret

Only 4 days before Christmas! I can't wait for Christmas morning so I can take it easy and enjoy the idea of the days to come. This next week will be as crazy as can be. We will work until the 24th. We will probably have the only office open in town! I feel a bit like the little guy up here. But, there are rumors that there will food and a bottle of Irish Cream next to the coffee machine :)

How will you spend the next week? Are you ready for the festivities? Are you done with your Christmas shopping? Cooking?

And why do cats behave like this?

We are having a very early snowy winter. Since the first snow storm a week or so ago, it's been snowing almost every day. It is very beautiful!

It's been such a crazy week at work, with Holidays festivities two evening in a row, I'm looking forward for this weekend. I'm planning to finish my Christmas shopping and bake some traditional sweets. What are your plans for the weekend?

Last night we celebrated the 35th wedding anniversary of my cousins. It was so nice to meet all my family. We don't see each other often enough.

We went to a Japanese restaurant. Although it open in 1978, I never been there before. I thought it would be kind of tacky with those exotic drinks and bamboo decor. Well it was a little but in a great way. And the food was pretty good. The rice was yummy! We had a very entertaining and fun time. Last photo was taken by T.

p.s. the chef was Chinese :)

p.p.s. I just saw my photos on a PC and they look really bad, full of noise. I don't see that on my Mac. :(

first snow storm...

bridge

We had our first snow storm this week. And it was quite big for this time of year. This was taken on my way to work. Behind the car is the restaurant I go for lunch sometimes. It's what you can call an old fashion diner where they make old quebecois recipies like rice pudding, prunes in syrup and hamburger steaks. In French we call this kind of place a binerie...

On another note, I received the I love your blog prize from Gracia. What an honor! Here are the rules:

Do an entry with the prize
Answer the questions
Give the prize to 10 blogs

So here we go

1. Why did you create the blog?
I think I said it before. I started to blog in 2007 on Myspace. I had bought a point and shoot camera and started to take photos, some of them that I liked enough to show on a blog. Back then Myspace was very active and I met a lot of great people there. I wanted to document life in Montreal and in Québec, show my surroundings to these friends from around the world. At one point, Myspace became a ghost town, people moving to Facebook. I never liked Facebook so I decided to create this blog. It will be two years old in a few days.

2. What kind of blogs do you follow?
Hmmm! I follow so many kind of blogs. I cannot start my day without visiting a long list of my favorites. I like design, art, illustration and photo blogs the most. Although I must say I cut down my visits on the last. I find them to be a lot alike. Off course, I also follow the blogs of the many great people I met in blog land.

3. Favourite makeup brand?
Okay, this is where it's getting tricky. See I don't wear makeup. And you'll see in the next questions that I'm not very girly.

4. Favourite clothing brand?
I don't like to spend a lot of money on clothes. I buy most of my clothes at Reitman's, a local ladies wear chain. When I'm looking for something a bit more chic, I go to Simons, another local chain. I would need to be very rich to buy the clothes I really like. But once in a while, I find a great piece at a thrift store which makes me very happy.

5. Your indispensable makeup product?
I have none since I don't wear any. But I've been do the Clinic face cleaning routine for ages. I replaced their cream by Nivea water base face cream which was recommended to me by a dermatologist. He said it is the best face cream for any skin.

6. Your favourite colour?
As in clothes or in general? During winter, I basically wear grey and black. As for colors in general, I like them all. Really! Except maybe some shades of green that I find particularly depressing.

7. Your perfume?
Surprise! Surprise! I don't wear any. Unless you consider deodorant to be a perfume. I love the smell of patchouli, but I don't dare wear it. It is so strong!

8. Your favorite film?
Now I have so many! Here are a few of my favorites for as many reasons as there are movies, and not in that order necessarily: The Piano, Once upon a time in the West, 21 grams, Babel (I love Inarritu), Manhattan (and so many others from Woddy Allen), Taxi Driver (and almost all of Scorsese's movies), My Dinner with André, Cabaret, Nikita (the first French movie by Besson), La neuvaine, Les bons débarras, etc. etc.... I'm sure I forget so many!

9. What country would you like to visit and why?
Hmmm. Hard to say again. There is so many. I would love to visit Newfoundland here in Canada. I like the fact that it is remote and isolated and surrounded by the see.

10. Make the last question and answer to yourself: what would be a perfect working world for you?
In my perfect working world, weeks would have 8 days so I can have a 3 day weekend. It's not that I don't like to work. I'm just frustrated by the lack of time I have for doing personal stuff like painting and drawing and playing with photoshop more...

Now I pass the prize from Gracia to Kerry, Line (who just started a new blog), Sophie, Élisabelle, P. K., Anairam, Gretchen, Valérie, Trinch... and Robert. I'm looking forward to see his answers for questions 3 and 5!

I drink a glass of wine or two and I get hungover. I'm not getting younger I guess. This photo puts my brain to rest.

Today is cooking day. Lots of recipes to try! I hope it will warm up the house because it's getting pretty cold in here. What are your plans for today?

This is so very informative and cool!
I'm not sure I share his optimism though.

In my neighborhood, there is this little boutique where they sew and sale clothes and have a collection of thimbles and other sewing gears... The entire street reflects in the last object (how do you call this thing?) and even yours truly. Do you see me waving at you? :)

My four legged neighbors... We haven't met personally but I bet the first one is named Chichi, the second one is named Spain and the third one goes by the nickname Spray. I hope they all have a warm place to hide today. It's cold!
