It's Friday! Did you watch the royal wedding? What a crazy event! It was all over he news. Maybe because Canada is part of the Commonwealth. As I told my colleagues yesterday, hockey is over (our team got eliminated), the wedding will be over Friday and elections will be taken care of on Monday (yes will be voting for a new - let's hope! - prime minister). We should go back to our regular program on Tuesday...

I am pretty excited that we decided to reopen our Castle Cat store. We will soon add new photos. We won't entertain another blog though. Too much work. Updates will be made here from time to time. But the best way to know what's going on with our project is by following us on Twitter (you can follow me too, but I don't tweet much).

Wishing you a beautiful week!

spring cleaning...

books

By joining Goodreads, I started to go through my books. I realized 1 - that my bookshelves needed a very good cleanning and 2 - that I had way too many books that I will never read again. So I started a big spring cleaning and discarded some of the books I could live without. The ones up there are only half of those I will bring to the thrift store or the used book library. And I still have plenty to reread when I retire! ;)

I think I mentioned this library before. It's the only store worth visiting in my working neighborhood. I'm there at least once a week. It is owned by a very charming retired couple. When passing by in the morning, I always see their cat laying amongst the books on the window sill. And when I go in, I'm greeted by the house bunny. Yes a bunny that the lady found on the street. She called her Agatha (like mrs Christie). She's white with 3 little gray dots running along her back spine. She so cute! Last Friday, the store was filled with people. It felt like those neighborhood stores you only see in movies where all the customers talk to each other and look happy. It made my day. That and the 50 cents art book I got!

Love this spotless restaurant kitchen!

weekend...

drink

It is the weekend, and a long one too! Yesterday was the warmest day we had in a long while I had my first cocktail hour outside. Today is another story though. Cold, gray and extremely windy. I don't want to go out!!!

Wishing you a perfect weekend with lots of chocolate!

Last night, I've joined goodreads. I lost track of time and got to bed pretty late! I don't know what I am going to do with this yet but I find it interesting to track down my favorite books and I'm sure I will find good reading inspiration there. If you are a member, come say hi!

Anyway, wishing you a good week. And if it's sunny and warm where you are, think of me :)

If you read French, Robert has a great series where he asks questions about photography. He posts his questions on Sundays. Tomorrow will be the third week.

I don't know how you translate the name of this delicacy but it has the texture of soft taffy. If you boil maple syrup a bit longer, it becomes thicker. You pour it hot on snow and when it hardens, you pick it up with a popsicle stick and eat it. Yum!!!

Fell in love with the blog "From the desk of..."

Speaking of desk, it will be Desktop of the Month next Friday. If you wish to participate, leave comment here. If you don't know what it's about, read here.

We had a wonderfully springy weekend. Tulips are growing fast and it's getting a lot warmer. So much so that we had a thunder storm this morning!

Wishing you a very good week!

A couple of weeks ago, I went to a sugar shack that belongs to my cousins in Saint-Henri de Lévis. They invited us, the Montreal cousins, to spend the a couple of days in their huge chalet. We spent most of our time at their sugar shack. At night, they treated us to a traditional sugar shack meal. Scrumptious! Their maple syrup is the best I tasted in years! We had such a great time. I haven't seen these cousins in years and I enjoyed spending time with my family.

To make maple syrup, you need to collect the sap from maple trees. This can be done only during spring, when the trees are waking up and draining water from the ground. Then you boil it until it reaches the right density. Then you can it. The lighter the syrup is, the less tasty it is, but if it becomes too dark, then it tastes burned.

Of course, I have a lot more photo to come.

Have you seen this superb painting by Alexandra?

I bought this fabulous book a few weeks ago. 600 pages of the most beautiful drawings and etching ever created. Every time I turn a page, my eyes go wide. So many pieces I never saw before. Love it!

It's Friday! My plans for the weekend ----> rest rest rest.

What are you plans?

Very wry video to promote awareness for older women who have to work long after they should have retired. Read the titles. I tip my hat to the ladies in the video.
